Colorado incentives

  • The US Department of Transportation (DOT) is offering $1.5 Billion for public entities including states, local governments, tribes, and port authorities to deploy charging infrastructure and other surface transportation projects through its Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) Program. DOT will provide reimbursement of up to 80% of total eligible project costs for most project types. Applications will be evaluated competitively and are due by February 28, 2024.

  • The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is offering $3 Billion for port authorities and state, regional, local, and tribal agencies with jurisdiction over ports, and air pollution control agencies to deploy zero-emission port equipment and to purchase and install charging infrastructure through its Clean Ports Program. EPA will provide reimbursement of up to $500 Million, up to 80-90% of total eligible project costs, depending on applicant and project details. Applications will be evaluated competitively and will be accepted between February 2024 and May 2024.

  • The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is offering $500M for school districts, charter schools, tribes, private school bus contractors, and eligible third parties to deploy clean and zero-emission school buses and to purchase and install L2 and DC fast chargers through its Clean School Bus (CSB) Rebate Program 2023. EPA will provide reimbursement of up to $145,000 - $345,000 per bus-and-charger bundle, depending on applicant and bus details. Awards will be made by lottery and applications are due January 31, 2024.

  • The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program allocates $5 billion in funding for EV charging infrastructure across 75,000 miles of highway across the country. Your organization must be within one mile of an established alternative fuel corridor to qualify and may need to meet other requirements as well.

  • The 30C Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Tax Credit, commonly referred to as the “federal tax credit,” gives qualifying businesses a 30% tax credit, up to $100,000, for the purchase and installation of EV charging infrastructure. Businesses must have installed the stations between Jan. 1, 2023, and Dec. 31, 2032, and must claim the credit on their federal tax return. Guidance on new eligibility requirements is forthcoming, based on prevailing wages and the applicant’s location within designated census tracts.

 

Your Sustainability Goals Are Within Reach in Colorado

  • Black Hills Energy in Colorado offers the commercial EV charging rebate. Your business can receive up to $2,000 per port for Level 2 stations, and Government and Non-Profit sites may be able to receive up to $3,000 per port. Also provides DCFC rebate $20,000 or $35,000 based on charger speed.

  • Charge Ahead Colorado provides grant funding for community-based Level 2 and DC fast charging charging stations, including public access, multi-family or workplace locations. The program provides 80% of the total costs, up to $12,000 per Level 2 port or up to $70,000 per dual-port DC fast charger. Charge Ahead Colorado typically has three application rounds per year in January, May, and October.

  • Holy Cross Energy commercial customers can receive a ChargePoint CT4000 charger at a discounted price.  Through Holy Cross Energy’s Charge at Work program, commercial customers hire an electrician of their choice to install the charger.  The cost of the installation can be paid directly to the electrician or can be spread out over 3 years on your Holy Cross Energy bill. 

  • Poudre Valley REA (PVREA) offers a rebate for public charging stations of 50% of the cost of the equipment or $1000, whichever is lesser.  The charger must have the ability to record session data and must be available to PVREA upon request.

  • Poudre Valley REA (PVREA) also offers a rebate for DCFC up to $7,000, as long as they are publicly accessible.  Eligibility is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.  Please contact PVREA's Energy Resources Team for information.

  • Xcel Energy Workplace Provides no-to-low cost, turn-key construction for EV supply infrastructure and maintenance for select customers. Minimum four ports per site, or in cases of fewer than four ports a minimum of 50 kW of charging capacity. Income-qualified and high emission rebate provides rebates up to $2,200 for L2 chargers and up to $45,000 for DCFC. Available to public organizations or non-profits that are eligible to participate on Xcel’s non-profit energy efficiency programs and located in a “Higher Emissions Community”

  • Xcel Energy Small Business Small business customers can receive up to $2,500 per port with a maximum of three ports to offset costs to install EV infrastructure. Costs can cover infrastructure installation—from electrical breaker panel up to the charger, wiring, conduit, costs of materials—and labor for electrical, trenching, and concrete work but not for charging equipment. Customers must have a peak load of 50 kW or below for the previous 12-month period. Small Business Income Qualified and High Emissions Rebate – EVSE rebates are provided to eligible small businesses. Rebates cover infrastructure and installation costs up to $2,500 per port as well as L2 charging equipment up to $2,000 per port with a cap of three ports per parcel.

  • Xcel Energy Multi-Family Housing Incentives EV Supply Infrastructure for shared or assigned parking. Xcel installs and maintains the EVSI at no cost for selected participants. Minimum of four ports. For assigned parking option participants must take Xcel Energy-provided charging stations (includes installation and maintenance) for a monthly fee on the individual drivers’ bills. This is optional for the shared parking option. New Construction Rebate that provides rebates up to $2,000 for EV Ready, EV Capable, or EV Installed ports that are in excess of applicable building code. Income Qualified and High Emissions Rebate – Rebates are provided to eligible participants up to $8,500 per port for eligible Level 2 chargers.

  • Xcel Energy Fleet EV Solutions Provides no-to-low cost, turn-key construction for EV supply infrastructure and maintenance for select businesses or organizations looking to install charging for their own fleets. Minimum four ports per site, or in cases of fewer than four ports a minimum of 50 kW of charging capacity. Fleet Income Qualified and High Emissions Rebate – EVSE rebates are provided to public organizations and non-profits that are providing charging for their own fleets and are eligible to participate in Xcel’s non-profit efficiency programs up to $2,200 for L2 chargers and up to $45,000 for DCFC.

  • Xcel Energy EV Fleet operators may be able to save money through EV Critical Peak Pricing if they can primarily charge their vehicles between 9pm and Noon and avoid critical peak events. Public EV Charging EVSI program that provides no- to low-cost turn-key construction services for infrastructure. Minimum of four ports or 50 kW of charging capacity

  • Xcel Energy Colorado is offering commercial, municipal, and community-focused properties that install L2 and DCFC EV charging stations rebates ranging from $800 - $45,000 to help offset the cost to purchase and install stations. All sites can receive Xcel-owned EVSE install/maintenance at no cost, lower cost/off-peak pricing and reduced energy charges from Xcel.

  • Xcel Energy Colorado is offering an Electric School Bus Rebate, school districts can earn a rebate to offset the costs for procuring qualifying electric school buses, and costs to install the EV infrastructure for charging the school bus fleet.   • United Power is offering rebates for public networked L2 50% of EV charging equipment and electric service installation costs up to $1,000 and DCFC up to $7,500 depending on power output. These rebates are an excellent way to encourage the adoption of EVs and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Home EV Charging Incentives in Colorado

  • Xcel Energy Missing $500 rebate, or $1,300 for Income-Qualified customers, home wiring rebate for residential charging stations

  • Gunnison County Electric Association provides rebates to residential customers toward the purchase of Level 2 EVSE. 70%, up to $500, of the cost of a Level 2 Home Charger. 5% Discount on chargers purchased from GCEA.

  • Holy Cross Energy’s Charge at Home program will provide residential customers with a free ChargePoint Home charging station! Customers are responsible for hiring an electrician of their choice to install the charger. Customers can pay the electrician for the installation or can choose to spread out payments over three years on your Holy Cross Energy bill.

  • Poudre Valley REA offers a rebate for Level 2 home chargers. The lesser of 50% or $250 for equipment purchases, and the lesser of 50% or $250 for the installation of the Level 2 charger.

  • United Power United EV will provide residential customers with a ChargePoint Home charging station including maintenance and energy management services for $19 per month.  Customers are responsible for hiring an electrician of their choice to install wiring for the charger and are eligible for a rebate of up to $1,000 for the wiring.

  • Black Hills Energy offers a rebate of $500 per port on the purchase and installation of Level 2 EV chargers.

 

EV Incentives in Colorado

  • The State of Colorado provides tax credits for the purchase of alternative fuel vehicles. Credits range from $1,500 for light-duty passenger vehicles to $10,000 for heavy-duty trucks.
